Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Parvez Elahi said that the prevailing political situation of Pakistan only threatens Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government, not the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
The former deputy prime minister said that the CPEC was a project between Pakistan and China and a change in government would not threaten it.
He said Pakistan’s armed forces would make sure no harm comes to the project with the departure of the present government. “In fact, it would be completed with greater efficiency and transparency,” he said.
Elahi said that 75 per cent investment for CPEC – $35 billion out of a total of $46 billion – was meant for power projects, in which the present government has been a consistent failure.
