SHIKARPUR: Death anniversary of Shahee

Bux Soomro, pre-partition Prime Minister of Sindh was observed on Sunday.
Soomro was born in 1900 CE and got his early education at Thull tehsil of Jacobabad in 1910, and succeeded in getting admission in higher secondary school in Shikarpur in 1911, and cleared matriculation in 1919, he belonged to middle class family, his father Haji Muhammad Umar Soomro was a famous contractor and businessman of the area. Bux Soomro, was very wise from childhood and took keen interest in politics and became a member of Jacobabad Municipal Committee in 1923 CE and after passage of five years in 1928 he was elected as a member of local board at Sukkur district and then he became as a president of same board of Sukkur in 1930.

Bux Soomro was rewarded of the little “Khan Bahadur” in 1931 while he also was selected as a member of Bombay Residency.
After implementation of an act “All India Act” in 1935, the Sindh province was declared as an autonomous province in 1st April 1936, the then general election was held in 1937 in Sindh province and Shahee

Bux Soomro was elected as a Prime Minister of Sindh province in 23 March in 1938, before partition.
After assuming the charge as a Prime Minister, Shahee
d Allah
Bux Soomro, took keen interest to
develop Sindh and especially m
ade his efforts in the field of Education and other public interested fields to
develop Sindh.

Bux Soomro, revoked the deported decision of Moulana Ubedullah Sindhi and m
ade his great efforts for his warm welcome. He was famous due to his honesty and for his justice in across Sindh.
According to his grandson, Dr Aamir Abbass Soomro that keeping an eye on desert Sindh and lack of Agricultural water, Shahee

ade his great efforts to
develop barrage and due to his personal interest he was succeeded in building Sukkur Barrage, Dr added.
Dr further said that he was also famous for travelling across city on his horse-cart without protocol except government work during his regime and raised slogan “freedom of speech for everyone”. A famous story of Shahee

Bux Soomro is that ones upon a time he [Shahee
d Allah
Bux Soomro] was walking at midnight when a cop arrested him and moved him to police station
and he remained whole night at police station, but he didn’t introduce himself till morning and gave reward money to police constable for his bravery to maintain law and order situation.

Bux Soomro left three sons and five daughters including Rahim Bux, Hyder Bux and Wazir Bux, he was born in Chief Minister House during his regime, while Wazir Bux is also known as Abdul Samad Soomro.

Bux Soomro was killed in an attack carried out by three armed men, assailants made straight firing on him, when he was traveling towards Begari canal on his horse-cart on 14th May 1943 in Shikarpur.
Replying to an answer about his death anniversary, Dr said that the people of Sindh are heirs of Shahee
d Allah
Bux Soomro therefore people of Sindh used to organize many programs on the eve of his the birth and death anniversary and in this relation many programs have been organized today on the eve of 74th death anniversary by his lovers on at Art Council Hall in Karachi and his native home district in Shikarpur.

Bux Soomro would be remembered in history.
