BADIN: “The mound of the Nidhori” has been discovered near Tarai town, Badin, by local denizens and they requested to the authorities for its further exploration.
According to reports, the local denizens of Tarai Town near Badin have discovered the “The mound of Nidhori” near Tarai Town, Badin. The locals told this reporter that usually this mound is called ‘Mangrio waro Daro’ (The mound of Mangrio) because of Mangrio tribes living around it.
But, the discoverers added, a deep probe indicated that its name is “The mound of the Nidhori” because this area has been named after Nidhori.
Ali Bha, a renowned social worker, said there is no mention of this mound in any books and history. “Only a slight reference of this mound by renowned historian Shaikh Mohammad Soomar has been found,” said Bha.
He said they still have many queries regarding this site. Another social worker Abdullah Saraz told this reporter that after recent rainfalls the existing marks of the ancient houses at this mound are visible which indicate that this city was set ablaze possibly to protect it from unwelcomed massacre in the city.
Abubakar Shaikh, a historian, said that unfortunately this mound has not been dug properly yet, so they cannot speculate more regarding the Nidhori mound. However, he affirmed that this is an ancient mound like others in Sindh. He requested to the Archaeology Department of Sindh for more exploration of this mound.
