HYDERABAD: Senior nationalist leader and founder of the Qaumi Awami Tehreek (QAT) Rasool Bukhsh Palejo said on Saturday that Sindh will stand destroyed and its people will become destitute gradually if Kalabagh dam is built.
In a press conference held in Palejo House in Qasimabad he said, “The project already rejected by three smaller provinces years ago, is in fact part of a deep conspiracy to turn Sindh’s lands barren and see its people starving and begging”. He also said that some federal ministers and their chosen bureaucrats known for their scheming had again moved into action to drum up support for the dam project while their continuous efforts are for protecting interests of only Punjab. “These ministers and officials, including the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) chairman, must resign immediately for indulging in a new campaign for the Kalabagh project, which is against the Constitution and has already been rejected by three provinces,” he added.
Palejo also urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to remove such anti-Sindh elements from their posts. He also appealed to every citizen of Sindh to resist the dam project tooth and nail as it was a matter of their survival.
